Our story began in 1934 when Rev and Mrs. W.C. Marcus were directed by God to open a church on the corner of 23rd and Annie Baxter in Joplin Missouri. They found a vacant building, which had been a dance hall upstairs over a barbershop below. The congregation quickly began to grow and expand. Many additions to the building were added and improved. In 1994 the church birthed another congregation which is now located at 5290 East 7th Street know as Joplin Family Worship Center. The church on Annie Baxter still continued to grow and expand. In January 2011, the church voted to change the name of the church to Christpoint Church. Because of the limited space and continued growth, the church moved to Galena, Kansas on Dec 7, 2014. We are looking forward to our future together as we Grow in God, Serve with Man, and Change the World.
Grow in God.
We are a group of people at all different stages in our spiritual journey. Our church includes those who are taking the first step to discovering what they believe, as well as, people who have identified with Jesus’ teachings for years. Christpoint’s goal is to share truths of the Bible so we can each take our next step with God.
Serve with man.
We believe one of the highest priorities of every believer is to serve with one another in a community of faith. Jesus gives us the greatest example of servanthood in Mark 10:45: “for even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as ransom for many”.
Change the world.
The world is full of people. People matter to God, and they matter to Christpoint. Our goal is to spread the love, and the message of Jesus Christ to every person we come into contact with. Our mission is to change the world, one person at a time.
It is the dream of Christpoint Church to be a vibrant, pentecostal, multi-ethnic community of believers, who pursue God with passion, serve His church and point the world to Him.
